The 8th annual South Florida Construction Career Days (CCD), ended its two-day event that spotlights career and training opportunities in the highway and bridge construction industry on Wednesday of this week. The event was held at the Bergeron Rodeo Grounds located at 4271 Davie Road.
Mayor Judy Paul joined others in a ribbon cutting ceremony that officially opened the event that educates high school and career/training students in Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties, as they learn about opportunities in the highway and bridge construction fields. To date, over 10,000 students have participated in South Florida CCD. The students get to experience over 30 hands-on learning labs presented by South Florida construction industry professionals including engineers, field managers, equipment operators, technicians, and surveyors.
Mayor Paul stated, “A hands-on event such as this gives the students a valuable perspective of what many construction industry professionals actually do.” The Mayor continued, “I watched as students sat at computers and worked on developing a plan to build a bridge with the use of industry specific software.” The Town of Davie is pleased to host this educational event every year.
