A Brief history
In January of 2000, at the request of the Davie Town Council, an ad appeared in the Town's local paper asking if there are, "Any thespians out there?" A number of people responded and became the nucleus for the Town's first community theatre.
A core group of eight men and women began rehearsing scenes from internationally famous plays, with the intent of eventually putting on a performance. Soon, two other dedicated players joined the group an began helping with the planned show.
On October 20 and 21, 2000, the preproduction of "An evening of Scenes: The Passion of Tennessee Williams, The Laughter of Neil Simon" was presented at Robbin's Lodge before an appreciative audience. After this initial venture, a board of governors was elected. Thus the birth of the Actors Community Theatre of Davie.
Presents the Upcoming 2009-2010 Season
By J.B. Prisetly
November 13, 14, 15, 20, 21 & 22, 2009
Based on a famous stage play and set in the year 1912, an upper crust English family dinner is interrupted by a police inspector who brings news that a girl known to everyone present has died in suspicious circumstances. It seems that any or all of them could have had a hand in her death. An Inspector Calls is just as relevant to contemporary audiences as when it was first performed in the 1940’s by a cast that included Alec Guiness and Ralph Richardson.
